Types of Cancer

Prostate

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer for men. Prostate cancer develops in the prostate gland (small walnut shaped) which is located just below the bladder in men. One of the most important functions of the prostate is to produce seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.

What you should know

Symptoms of prostate cancer may include issues with urinating including less force in the stream of urine, blood in the semen or urine, erectile dysfunction, bone pain, or loss of weight. Many prostate cancers grow slowly but others can be aggressive, so early detection is advantageous. Common risk factors include family history, age (more common in men over 50), and obesity. Certain risk factors like obesity may increase the likelihood of the cancer being aggressive.

Therapies

Surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are common conventional treatments for prostate cancer. Other less invasive therapies to consider include more innovative methods that include immunotherapies. Schedule a consult with our medical staff to better understand how Dayspring Cancer Clinic can help you with your therapy options.
